The 52 edition of the symposium ‘Forestry Mechanization’ or FORMEC will be held together with the 42 edition of the Council on Forest Engineering (COFE). This year TECH4EFFECT has its’ own session at FORMEC! Also this is the first time for a COFE meeting taking place in Europe – in Sopron, Hungary. Join also the field trip to Forchtenstein in Austria to attend AUSTROFOMA, the only Austrian forestry machine and device demonstration where all the machines on display are shown performing real-life tasks.
The TECH4EFFECT session on Monday, 7th October starts at 10:30 in Room1 and includes the following presentations:
Don’t miss the keynote from our coordinator Rasmus Astrup on Tuesday morngin:
A-0193 Digitalization of forest harvesting: the potential for improved environmental and production efficiency; Rasmus Astrup, Room 1, 8:00.
Several posters are also based on TECH4EFFECT:

The 25th world congress of the International Union of Forest Research Organizationstakes (IUFRO) takes place in Curitiba, Brazil, and focuses on Forest Research and Cooperation for Sustainable Development. Congress themes include:
Registration is open already with early bird registration until 25th May!

European forests are considered a crucial resource for supplying biomass to a growing bio-economy in Europe. This study aimed to assess the potential availability of forest biomass from European forests and its spatial distribution. We tried to answer the questions (i) how is the potential forest biomass availability spatially distributed across Europe and (ii) where are hotspots of potential forest biomass availability located?
Verkerk from EFI et. al analysed the total availability of forest biomass and spatial distribution of woody biomass potential for 39 European countries. They found out that the distribution of biomass potentials that are currently unused only partially coincides with regions that currently have high levels of wood production.

For the third time the Wood Industry Summit will be at LIGNA 2019. Taking place from 27 to 31 May in Hannover, Germany (hall 26), the summit focuses on “Access to Resources and Technology”. It is a well-established showcase for the forestry and wood industries organized by our partner KWF (German Forestry Council) together with Deutsche Messe.
Meet Bruce Talbot from NIBIO giving ‘An overview of technologies for monitoring the impact of forest machines on the soil ‘
in Hall 26, Stand H28 on 31 May. 2019, 11:15 AM – 11:45 AM.
Have a look at the event website for more details: LIGNA 2019
Austrian Foresters are meeting this year in ‘Stift Seckau’ close to Knittelfeld to discuss forests and climate change. Gernot Erber from BOKU has been selected to present our TECH4EFFECT project poster. Registration is open until 3. May!
Check out the event page for more details!
Our partner CONAIBO is going to attend the italian trade fair FORLENER from 17 to 19 May. Vitit the “Lario Fiere” exhibition centre in Erba (Lombardy Region, around 50km from Milan) to meet with them and pick up some TECH4EFFECT flyers!
As the main Italian fair focusing on the forest-wood energy chain, FORLENER (Forest-Wood-Energy) is covering the whole value chain of its products and services
